ACT is known for its practical engineering approach, commitment to continuous improvement, and high-quality project delivery.
Due to continued growth, ACT is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join their team in a hands-on role that blends design, project work, site support and engineering improvement initiatives.
About the Role
This role will see you involved in mechanical engineering projects from concept through to installation and ongoing support. You’ll work across both office-based engineering and on-site activities as required.
Key Responsibilities
Drive improvements in cost effectiveness and efficiency within the mechanical engineering function using modern technology and methods
Carry out engineering checks on OEM and non-OEM equipment and prepare detailed reports
Support the mechanical team with site issues, including breakdowns and installations
Complete project and contracted works on a range of mechanical conveyor equipment
Oversee and report on research and development activities
Provide technical engineering support to manufacturing, maintenance and production teams
Prepare engineering calculations, FEA models, reports and general mechanical engineering documentation
Assist with evaluating vendor bids and ensuring engineering compliance with project specifications
Ensure systems and procedures supporting mechanical compliance are followed and continuously monitored
Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, company policies and ethical standards
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A qualification in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing, materials handling or heavy industry environment
Exposure to conveyor systems or similar mechanical equipment (highly regarded)
Experience completing engineering calculations and FEA modelling
A practical, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Willingness to attend site when required
